ATLs: I will address critical thinking ATLs by explaining how I discovered useful editing methods and techniques by experimenting with the Final Cut Pro software.
Subject: This entry will display the various different editing tools I used to produce the videos that went on my YouTube channel.
Content: As mentioned previously in the report, my editing software for this project was Final Cut Pro. Final Cut Pro is an app developed solely for the OS X software, so it is specifically for MacBooks. Through watching extensive tutorials and experimenting with the software I was able to develop my editing skills on Final Cut Pro and improve my videos. Experimenting with the software ended up being one of the most effective ways of becoming more familiar and skilled on Final Cut.
One of the most useful editing tools I discovered on Final Cut Pro was the video inspector tool, which allows cropping, transformation, or distortion of a video frame. I firstly used cropping option on the video inspector tool. There were three different types of cropping. I used firstly the standard crop, which simply allowed me to zoom in onto a specific section of the video. I used the standard crop to fix the video clips I filmed in portrait, so that they could resemble a landscape image instead. I also used the “ken burns” cropping option, which allowed me pan video clips. Besides cropping, I used the transformation tool as well. This let me rotate and resize footage that was slightly tilted or undersized and straighten it up.

Another editing tool that was very useful in improving the smoothness and general quality of my videos was the drop down menu seen in the image below.
The blade and range selection options were incredibly helpful for my video production. In vlogs specifically, the blade was useful for condensing and splitting clips. I used the blade to split footage and jump from one part of the footage to another. This gave the video a fast-paced feeling, and this is how vlogs should be. To continue, the range selection can be seen as a more intricate version of the blade. Instead of directly separating a clip, it permits the editor to select a specific part of a clip and adjust the elements and qualities of it. For instance, the audio clips in my tutorials were always adjusted with the range selection so that the music volume would decrease when I narrated.
To summarize, with the aid of sources, in addition to my own exploration and experimentation on the Final Cut Pro software, I was able to effectively edit and improve my videos’ quality.
